Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers & Chemicals Limited(GNFC) won the prestigious Golden Peacock Award in the category of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the year 2016. The award recognizes the company’s contribution to conducting ethical business, while developing and implementing transparent, sustainable and pragmatic socio-economic programs which facilitate a better quality of life for weaker sections of society. The case study presented in the awards entry and ceremony focussed on the Neem Project.
The Golden Peacock Awards instituted by Institute of Directors in 1991, are now regarded as Holy Grail of Corporate Excellence Worldwide. Grand jury headed by Former Chief Justices of Supreme Court, Justice P. N. Bhagwati
and Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah
and former Judge of Supreme Court Justice (Dr.) Arijit Pasayat.
The Global Awards are finalized by a Jury headed by Right Honourable Sir Richard Needham (The Earl of Kilmorey PC), Non-Executive Director, NEC Europe Ltd. & Chairman-Advisory Group, STERN UK.
The Golden Peacock Awards follow a rigorous 3 level procedure of short listing and selection. The award Secretariat received a total of 325 applications in 2016 out of which GNFC was selected for the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Award was received by Dr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta IAS, Managing Director, GNFC from Spiritual Leader and Founder of Art of Living, Shri Shri Ravi Shankar at a gala ceremony organized at the Hotel Lalit Ashok in Bengaluru, India on 20th January 2017.
The event was attended by
distinguished leaders from across sectors.
